So you’re ready to get started learning Atlas? Great, let’s get started!
First things first. Let’s download and install Atlas.
Step 1) Download Eclipse
Atlas is an Eclipse plugin. The current release is compatible with Eclipse Kepler releases on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Download the Eclipse Standard 4.3.2 release for your OS and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
OS | 32-bit | 64-bit |
---|---|---|
Windows | Windows 32-bit | Windows 64-bit |
Mac | Mac 32-bit | Mac 64-bit |
Linux | Linux 32-bit | Linux 64-bit |
To stay organized create a folder called Atlas
and unzip the eclipse
folder from the Eclipse Kepler download into the Atlas
folder. In the Atlas
folder also create a workspace
and git
subfolder.
Inside the eclipse
folder double click the Eclipse executable icon to launch Eclipse. When Eclipse prompts you for a directory location of your workspace Browse
to the workspace
folder you created in the Atlas
folder and press OK
.
Step 2) Install Atlas
Now that we have a compatible version of Eclipse, let’s install Atlas. Follow the steps below to install Atlas from the Eclipse update site.
- Start Eclipse, then select
Help
>Install New Software
. - Click
Add
, in the top-right corner. - In the
Add Repository
dialog that appears, enterAtlas
for the Name andhttp://download.ensoftcorp.com/atlas/eclipse
for the Location. - In the Available Software dialog, select the checkbox next to “Atlas” and click Next followed by
OK
. - In the next window, you’ll see a list of the tools to be downloaded. Click
Next
. - Read and accept the license agreements, then click Finish. If you get a security warning saying that the authenticity or validity of the software can’t be established, click
OK
. - When the installation completes, restart Eclipse.
Step 3) Enter License Key
Launch Eclipse and navigate to Window
> Preferences
> Atlas
> License
. Note your system username in the System username
field.
If you haven’t already head on over to http://www.ensoftcorp.com/atlas to get a license for Atlas. You will need the case sensitive system username you just located when you request your license. If you just want a trial, or you are a student, or you are actively working on an open source project you may qualify for a free license. Note that for this tutorial series Atlas Lite won’t be sufficient.
